CHAMELEONS LIVE SHOW REVIEW / CHICAGO, IL

To kick off the third leg of their ‘Strange Times USA 2024 Tour’, English rock band, the Chameleons stopped at bottom lounge on October 18th in Chicago, IL.

Chameleons started their career over two decades ago and have released over 18 full length albums, and a multitude of singles & EPs. their most recent release Tomorrow Remember Yesterday came out on October 11th, just a week before their Chicago show and start to the third leg of their tour dedicated to their newest album. Along with their Chicago show on the 18th, the band held a free meet and greet / gathering earlier in the day at Reckless Records. The members were offering photos, autographs, and a Q&A for any fans interested. Chameleons have clearly mastered how to keep a fanbase for themselves over 40 years of being a band together. There are few bands no matter their status who offer connection like that to their fans, especially for free; so, this is a refresher for people the music scene as a whole!

The band was supported by The Veldt, who the Chameleons have toured with a numerous amount of times. The Veldt being the first opener and having the longest out of the rest of the supporting acts was shocking solely based on how lineups and set times are traditionally set up, but this did allow the following two acts to be ensured a bigger crowd to perform for before the Chameleons took stage.

When the night was nearing its end, The Chameleons took the stage and it was immediately made clear the attendees who had stuck around all night long knew exactly why to do so! When Chameleons started playing their iconic songs from Strange Times the crowd started to finally get more engaged with the night. The alternative-rock band performed a total of 16 songs. The band, understandably why, dedicated their primary setlist of 11 songs to Strange Times performing, both currently released and unreleased, songs from their longest ongoing project. The Chameleons energy in their performance kept fans engaged throughout their whole set. when it seemingly was coming to an end, fans cheered for an encore. the band delivered five full songs as an encore with the first being their current hit “Where Are You?” With the extensive experience The Chameleons have, it was to no surprise the band brought such passion and drive into their performance at Bottom Lounge on October 18th.
