god forbid a girl spits out her feelings! single review
Written By Allie Loven
LØLØ’s new EP is fully released now with the addition of a few more tracks we’ve been waiting for like “god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!”, the title track. This single showcases a lot of things within the artist both musically and the direction her message.
Lauren Mandel, or LØLØ, is a Canada based, pop-rock, artist taking over the scene. After her reach thru Warped Tour as well as her own self headlining tour with months of 2024-2025 were put into all over the world. Starwave is lucky to say it showcases three of her tours, U Tour Me on in two different countries Paris and United States, and her run with 3OH!3, Bowling for Soup and Simple Plan.
She is radically growing with her approach to the world of music and giving feeling to her art. Essentially, the opening of the song is a proclamation she doesn’t have to apologize for someone else’s standards or malicious behavior with “ill intentions”. She comments on the fact that being a muse is just like how she’s treated or perceived by one everyday (which parallels well with Halsey’s “Lonely is the Muse”) already.
The title at once lets you know that this single is the title track for a reason. Her message of feelings both romantic and emotional give room for interpretation but it’s clearly stated that she, LØLØ, is not taking others’ shit along with her and she is going to say, or “spit out” whatever she wants. “It’s just poetry” and “don’t hate the player hate the game” is a proclamation that no revenge is needed because she has the ability to put this everyday shit into beautiful works of art in her music. “you messed up now everyone’s singing” ended by a soft echoing “god forbid a girl spits out her feelings!” is a final statement to end and stand on to the commentary of others of their own perception of her and her doing the same with her feelings about such issues as this muse statement and having feelings.
