On March 26th, mxmtoon performed at the House of Blues in Chicago as part of her 38-show "liminal space" tour! The tour follows the release of her third full-length record by the same name.
The night began with Juliet Ivy, a talented singer-songwriter from New York City with an ethereal indie-pop sound. Before her set begins, people in attendance can’t help but be drawn to the unique butterfly-shaped guitar sitting on stage. Her setlist featured songs from her 2024 sophomore EP, tiny but scary, including tracks such as “4 foot 2” and “is it my face?”. Additionally, she debuted an unreleased song titled “S.O.S. 2001” and performed a cover of Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”. She is one of four artists supporting mxmtoon throughout the duration of the tour.
When she takes the stage, mxmtoon brings a vibrant and playful energy with her that lights up the room. As she dances across the stage and connects with her fans, it’s clear that she genuinely loves what she does. During her set, the 24-year-old shares that her latest album explores her experiences of being in her 20s. Her setlist included all 12 tracks off of liminal space, including lead single “i hate texas” and her collaboration with Kero Kero Bonito, “the situation”. During the song “VHS”, which lyrically reflects back on her childhood self, real home video clips of mxmtoon as a little girl display on screen behind her. A few tracks off of earlier albums made the setlist as well, most notably the platinum-certified hit “prom dress” and “Mona Lisa,” which featured in Season 2 of Netflix’s Heartstopper. Whether there is any familiarity with her music, or not, anyone is sure to have a great time at an mxmtoon concert.
The UK/EU leg of the tour with Bea and her Business kicked off this past week on April 15th in Paris, France!
