Kicking off their first headline tour, Public Intimacy, in mid-October, Pretty Jane returned to Michigan with a fresh, innovative sound that captivated the entire crowd. Although originally branding themselves as an indie group, they have recently transitioned into the alternative rock genre to share their life with the world. Their music is captivating, drawing listeners into the intimate details of young adulthood. Pretty Jane walks through life knowing it’s all about the little details that create the most formative moments. Kissing in the back of a van, the fear of putting yourself out there, and longing to return to a simpler time create new, often overwhelming emotions. These emotions fuel Pretty Jane’s authentic sound.
Promoting fun, reckless behavior is highlighted in their slogan, kiss your friends, and further reflected in Stand So Close and Quiet. Watching the world revolve around you, and living your life without fear of rejection and remorse. Being young is all about taking chances and exploring what life has to offer. Pretty Jane embodies the spirit of spontaneity in hopes that listeners can fully embrace their own lives.
Often coming across as sultry and passionate, Pretty Jane still takes the time to slow it down to create poetic ballads of lost love. Newest singles, Cattails and Spit, showcase the depth of the group. Not only are they able to create music that lives up to the witty slogan, kiss your friends, but they reminisce on the longing for more than a friend. Tapping into the feelings of loneliness during the most intimate moments of life.
With their spirit in mind, the expectations were high for their first headline tour and they did not disappoint. Opening their Michigan show with the talented Celeste Allison and Hana Eid, the crowd was buzzing with excitement for the main act. Taking the stage with a soft ballad, they made a sudden transition into a full rock concert as their energy surged through the venue. Running through the crowd, instrument changes, bringing a fan on the stage, and jumping off equipment, their presence took up the entire stage. The highs and lows of their set perfectly embodied by each band member, handling every song with the care it deserves. Pretty Jane is composed by the most genuine people. Everyone stayed by the merch stand, signing everyone’s merch, and sharing their love of music with each fan.
