“Flown Away” by Laura Pieri is about reclaiming one’s identity when they begin to doubt their purpose. She uses pop elements, but focuses on a more free spirited dance sound. It’s very reminiscent of 2010s hits that were all about having fun and enjoying the art of making music. The release of “Flown Away” is accompanied by the announcement of Frankie On The Dancefloor, the continuation of the EP Frankie. It’s being released on May 30th along with four new remixes that explore the dance genre. Pieri has been wanting to take strides into the dance-pop genre for awhile, and she has finally found a place for “Flown Away” in her discography.
Pieri’s new release is an energetic song filled with techno elements. Her vocals are amplified by the carefree nature of the instrumentals. Her voice is fueled by the passion of sharing her and Frankie’s story through music. This song shows how Pieri isn’t afraid of experimentation with the backtrack, and how there is more to her sound than her vocals. Although it seems chaotic, it goes with the theme of letting go and becoming the best version of yourself. The act of flying away is an exciting thought, and the instrumental carries that energy whenever Pieri isn’t singing along. There are many components to the music, creating a complex and engaging sound to keep her listeners entertained. As Pieri experiments with her new pop sound, I’m sure that these characteristics will continue in Frankie On The Dancefloor, releasing May 30th. Until then, you can tune into Flown Away, as well as her EP Frankie on all streaming platforms and fully experience Pieri’s musical growth.
