Real Friends took the stage of the iconic House of Blues - Chicago on November 29th with an energy that shifted the whole room. This tour honors their new album they released independently this year, ‘Blue Hour’.
Real Friends shows, especially their Chicago hometown performances, have always been packed full of fans no matter the size of the venue. Many long time listeners did not know what to expect from this album or tour. Those who skipped this run definitely missed out on a good performance and a great crowd in one of Chicago’s most established venues. That being said, even during a crazy holiday season, fans of all ages flew all the way across the country to see Real Friends take this hometown stage.
The performers shifted the crowd literally and metaphorically in their short visit home performing not only their 2024 ‘Blue Hour’ releases, but long time favorites as well. Even with a barricade, lead singer, Cody Muraro, climbed over into the crowd many times. All of the guys, but specifically Cody and bass guitarist, Kyle Fasel, had a way of playing together on stage together that was incredible to witness for the first time. Each breath, step, and movement captivated the room. The bands’ infectious crowd interaction and presence at House of Blues-Chicago is something that’s hard to put into words, but remarkable to experience live.
This show brought strangers hugging and crying together, ending the night in all smiles leaving the venue.
At the end of the night, this show reminded the Starwave Founders exactly what the roots of this magazine are supposed to be. It was an honor to captivate Real Friends and their amazing fans.
