Toro y Moi / Dallas, TX

On the second to last show of their 2025 US tour, Toro Y Moi played at House Of Blues Dallas to a fun and lively crowd. Toro Y Moi was touring to promote their latest album Hole Erth which was released last year. Openers Kassie Krut and Panda Bear got the crowd moving and ready for an energetic night of good music. Kassie Krut brought heavy industrial electronic music to the Music Hall, at times incorporating the sound of hitting a nearby pelican case with a drumstick in their music. Panda Bear, who is a founding member of Animal Collective and collaborated with Daft Punk on Doin’ It Right, brought funky sounds and trippy visuals on stage.

Shortly after Panda Bear, Toro Y Moi walked out on stage and was met with a loud cheer of excitement from the crowd. Members Imari Mubarak and Anthony Ferraro positioned themselves with their instruments while founder and lead vocalist Chaz Bear took his spot by his keyboard. Their stage setup was simple and compact with only their instruments placed in the center of the stage facing each other. With the addition of a table lamp and a small rug on Bear’s keyboard stand, it gave off a very homey vibe.  The futuristic synth from Mirage filled the room and the crowd lost it. On stage, the members are backlit by a bright orange light, the crowd only seeing their silhouettes in the dark. They transition to the funky Laws of the Universe as the lights finally hit the members, giving the crowd their first look at them. Chaz grabs the mic from his keyboard and dances his way up to the front of the stage, understably so as it’s impossible not to dance to Laws of the Universe.

With a perfect setlist of new and older songs, Toro Y Moi’s funky sounds kept the crowd dancing and grooving all night. Make sure to stream their newest album Hole Erth! now!
